Reverse email lookups are great for a variety of things, but sometimes your issue can not be solved using a reverse lookup. If you are receiving spam, have unsubscribed and the company is not abiding by your wishes, it may be time to take more drastic measures. Using a reverse email lookup, you could find the name of the person or company and use that to file a complaint. But, what if the name is not available and all that can be found is an IP address? Then what?
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a numerical identifier assigned to every computer and network. It can be used to distinguish emails sent from one sender or another. If you perform an IP address search, it will locate the actually router these emails are coming from. The problem you may encounter is often multiple people or companies in the same geographic area will all show the same IP address. If that is the case, it does not do you much good. If you are able to pinpoint the IP address, you may be able to use that information to prevent emails coming from that computer location and stop the emails for good.
